The European Capital of Culture is a city designated by the European Union for a period of one calendar year during which it is given a chance to showcase its cultural life and cultural development. As a large metropolis bustling with millions of people and cradle of many nations and religions, Istanbul definitely deserves the title of European Capital of Culture in 2010. Many colors reflecting the deep culture and many monuments listed as the World Heritage by UNESCO will be seen in Istanbul during 2010.
